07/05/05 Great Site. Hope this is the right forum and doesn't sound like a sales pitch, but....

The New York State Square/Round Dance Showcase committee is seeking/urging ideas and input from all the New York State clubs and dancers for the Showcase of Ideas display in Charlotte, North Carolina, 2007. Among other things, a CD video is being created that will give "outsiders" a snapshot of what square dancing is all about and give clubs ideas on recruitment. Other states have had enviable displays promoting both square and round dancing along with beautiful tourist displays. The committee will entertain and consider all positive input.

01/01/06 Hi there! Your site is cool!

12/11/05 I recently moved to Rochester, don't know anybody around. I was wondering if you suggest some places to take dance lesson. I am an absolute beginner.
Thanks,
Jimmy

There are several clubs in the Rochester area. From our website: www.SquareDanceFingerLakes.info, scroll down to Information About Other Clubs, then Rochester Area Federation.

11/19/05 If you can help, my church has an annual barn dance for the past twenty three years and we are looking for a new band that can do the square dance calling. This years dance was on November 12th, we have used the same band for the last five years, the band is getting on in years and they use the same routine every year. If you know any square dance callers on Long Island can you email me back at nygiants920@aol.com or call me at 631-842-0692

Thank you
Frank Tarzia

9/19/05 Hello...we are previous dancers from PA (about 8 years ago) and we are looking forward to getting back to dancing again, club level. Eight years is a long time for this almost 50 year old brain...I hope I can remember how to "load the boat" without sinking. LOL may need a refresher course. We have lived in Central NY for 8 years. Prior to which we lived in PA and danced with several clubs in the Philadelphia area.  Dixie Derbies and Mainstreamers as well as some of the other groups. Hubby had an accident 5 years ago and thinks he would be able to dance once again, so we are looking for something (a club) in the Utica/Herkimer or Onieda County area.

Thank you,
Charlene Loftis

The contact for Utica, NY is Warren, 146 Concord Dr., Utica, NY (315) 733-8542. The Club is "Pairs In Squares", Squares & Rounds, Plus Level, at the Tabernacle Baptist Church.

9/11/05 Hi, Just checking to see if there are any clubs I can visit when on holiday in NY 10 - 14 October with my Mum. We dance to Plus level. I couldn't see what level the clubs listed dance to. Don't know if it's just me or whether I need to search their specific web-sites. Will be staying near Times Square if you can suggest any clubs near there. Thanks for your help. We are visiting from Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, UK. Looking forward to it too!
